Many families are overwhelmed with the thought of financing a college education. The first step is to understand the costs. Then you can look at options such as federal and state aid, merit-based aid, or launching a scholarship search!

Academic Angle will help you understand the “in’s and out’s” of college affordability, and if financial aid is a top priority, help you create a list of colleges that are most likely to produce aid results that work with your budget. 

POPULAR SESSION TOPICS

By the Numbers: College Costs, Financial Aid, Scholarships

Prepare to make sound decisions and anticipate future challenges by reviewing recent tuition and financial aid data from schools on your “Big College List” with your college counselor. This class can also be used to discuss institutional and private scholarship possibilities or to complete scholarship applications. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate!
Minimum Duration: 1 Session [60 minutes] Prerequisites: Evaluating Your "Big College List," Completed FAFSA4caster, Pre-discussion about meeting goals.

SCHOLARSHIP RESEARCH AND STRATEGY SESSION

Using your strengths-based student profile, research college scholarship options and create an application strategy. Examine scholarship potential for each school on your college list and organize the information to execute your strategy.

Minimum Duration: 1 Session [60 minutes] Prerequisites: Evaluating Your "Big College List," Completed FAFSA4caster, Pre-discussion about meeting goals.

Scholarship Essay Sessions

Work with your counselor to brainstorm, outline, and/or write scholarship essays. Drafts will be reviewed by our Essay Team in between sessions. This class session can be repeated as necessary.
Minimum Duration: ½ Session [30 minutes]
