Transfer Admissions Counseling

Personalized, one-to-one guidance for students ready to find their next college home

Whether you’re moving from a community college to a four-year university or looking for a better-fit school, transfer admissions works differently than first-year admissions. It has its own deadlines, credit rules, application requirements, and essay questions. Our Transfer Admissions Counseling Program guides students through every step, and every student works directly with Karl Lenss, a Certified Educational Planner, with support from our expert essay coaches.

The Program at a Glance

  • Who it’s for: community college students planning to transfer to a four-year university, and four-year college students seeking a better fit
  • How it works: one-to-one virtual sessions scheduled around your college course load and deadlines
  • The goal: strong, complete applications submitted on time, with your hard-earned credits counting toward your degree
  • Customized for you: after the new student consultation, we create a personalized proposal based on your goals and timeline

When Should We Start?

The earlier, the better. Planning ahead helps make sure the classes you take now count toward your degree later. Transfer deadlines vary widely, from fall through spring depending on the college and your intended start term, and our cohorts fill up, so we recommend reaching out as soon as you’re considering a transfer.

What does it cost?

Engaging an independent educational consultant is often one of the wisest investments a transfer student can make. Comprehensive tuition may range from $4,000 to $5,250 depending on student needs.

Phase 1: Transfer Goals, Academic Planning, Transfer College List-Building

Ideal start: fall/winter prior to intended transfer

We’ll help you clarify why you want to transfer and what you need at your next college, then map out everything you will need to become a strong candidate. We will also help you build a balanced list of transfer-friendly colleges that fit your academic, social-emotional, and financial best-fit criteria.

Phase 2: Writing Transfer Personal Statements & School-specific Essays

Ideal start: fall or winter prior to intended transfer, at least a few months before deadlines

Transfer personal statement essays ask why you want to transfer and what you’ll do differently. We help you tell a clear, forward-looking story, with honest feedback from our expert essay coaches, plus any supplemental essays your colleges require.

Phase 3: Completing College Transfer Applications

Ideal start: winter/spring prior to intended transfer

We help you create a plan, manage the process, and complete the Common App for Transfer and college-specific applications by target deadlines. We also help with financial aid and transfer scholarship strategy, audit every application for errors and omissions, and help you compare offers when decisions arrive.
