Karl's career in education began as a public school teacher, where he worked for over a decade with thousands of students and families. From this experience, he found his true calling was counseling students, one-on-one, through the college preparation and admission process. Karl founded Academic Angle in 2014.

Karl is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Education. He also earned a College Counseling Certificate from the University of California, San Diego. Karl is a licensed educator and school administrator in the state of Illinois, a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and a Professional Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA).

Karl invests a lot of time visiting colleges and meeting with their admissions directors to personally understand their culture and selection criteria. His expertise has helped students gain admission to dozens of highly selective colleges and universities in the USA. In addition to working with domestic applicants, Karl specializes in working with international students from Europe and Asia.

Andra is an experienced writing tutor and high school English teacher from central Pennsylvania. She holds an English Secondary Education degree from Juniata College, a Master's of Education from St. Francis University, and she is currently pursuing a second Master's in Holocaust and Genocide Studies with the intention of pursuing a PhD. She began working with Academic Angle in 2019, and since then she has distinguished herself as one of our finest writing coaches.


Test Prep Teacher since 2015
Ben has helped thousands of students across the world achieve top scores on the ACT & SAT and secure admission and scholarships to top colleges and universities in the USA. Prior to earning a B.B.A. in Marketing from Georgia State University, he scored in the top 1% on both the ACT and SAT and graduated from high school at the age of 15. Prior to starting with us in 2015, Ben worked as a teacher, manager, and director for programs at the Princeton Review and Academic Tutoring Centers.
